idedit

I received a call from my former Borrowed Time bassist, Ward Harper, in 1992. I was living in Los Angeles, and had grown disillusioned with it. I was ripe to do something else and get out of Dodge. Ward suggested I move back to Minneapolis, and join his current group, idedit, which was a minimalist sort of experimental post-punk band, reminding me of Wire.

idedit also included Borrowed Time drummer Bill Wilson, and singer Kevin Nichols. Ward sent me cassettes of the music, and I began to learn it, as I also planned my return to Minneapolis

When I arrived in Minneapolis, we almost immediately went into the studio and recorded a 4-song demo. Then we hit the rehearsal room and worked on the repertoire. Ward was a prolific songwriter, and the songs were challenging, with odd time signatures and unique guitar lines for me to learn.

Shortly after joining, Kevin left the band and was replaced with Joseph Martin, from the band Dark Carnival. We rehearsed, but never had the opportunity to gig.

Suddenly, and without explanation, both Joseph and I were fired from the band. After a time, I made the decision to move back to California--but this time the Northern part.
